This innovative professional development course is aimed at aspiring Principals, as well as Senior Leaders and curriculum heads who work in schools with responsibility for subject areas and teams of people.

Addressing four key aspects that these roles demand, each session will provide comprehensive evidence-based insights into current theories of leading and leadership as well as small group sessions that will allow for practical thinking through of the issues at hand.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in critical questioning, self-reflection and interactive discussion throughout.

Session 1 People

Understanding the impact of vision and values in schools, looking at core purpose, the nature and work of teams and Control v Trust.

Session 2 Policy

A look at policy within schools’ recent changes and updates to policy. Delegation and accountability in a school context.

Session 3 Priorities

The issues of teaching and learning, governance, workload balance, managing people.

Session 4 Pathways

Managing and planning for the future, building capacity, CPD and the role of Inspection in our schools.
