Unit 1 on the PQL Programme

This unit will focus on wellbeing for leaders, and developing resilience through enhanced problem solving skills. Models of good practice and evidence from research informed tutors will assist leaders to reflect and develop higher level thinking skills in support of effective leadership. The course will help students to:
  • Develop an understanding of the need for resilience and skills as a learning leader for whole organisational improvement
  • Identify and adapt the three pillars of resilience to current practices by engaging in problem solving projects and transformative methods of leadership
  • Investigate the theoretical basis of leadership and management styles and best practice cultural and organisational paradigms
  • Develop an awareness of leadership styles and methods when planning and evaluating self and others within the framework of organisational planning
  • Audit organisational and evidence based leadership and management methods and plan for projects in support of organisational development objectives
  • Implement resilience and social and emotional solutions to problems identified and evaluate outcomes using case study methodologies
  • Reflectively critique self and others against the resilience skills matrix for problem solving and wider cognitive and behavioural needs and make recommendations for CBT and/or other possible interventionist training/support
  • Analyse praxis and theory interventions in support of improvement planning with reference to evidence-based inquiry modelling reflective leadership practices.
This course will also include 4 keynotes from experiences practitioners from across the education
